May is Mental Health Month

This Mental Health Month, we invite you to reflect on what a “good day” looks like for you. “Good” doesn’t have to mean happy or productive. It might mean calm, manageable, or something else. What counts as good can change over time, and only you can define what a good day looks like to you.

WOSTA is also raising awareness this month of the important role mental health plays in our lives. We are encouraging OST program staff to take action toward prioritizing their mental health and overall well-being, as well as the mental health and well-being of youth in our programs and communities.

Ways to take action this month:

  • Get Mental Health America's Mental Health Month Action Guide to access online activities, articles, printable tools, and practical resources.
  • Check out WOSTA's Mental and Emotional Wellness playlist on YouTube to view previously recorded webinars and videos designed for OST programs.
  • Look for the Beyond the Bell with WOSTA podcast, wherever you get your podcasts, and listen to previously recorded episodes on topics like having hard conversations, how teams can promote self-care, and why connections matter with the Office of Children's Mental Health.
  • Share mental health resources on topics that matter to youth, such as MHA’s Guide for Supporting Friends, and ensure youth know where to get help if they need it.
  • Visit our Event Calendar and consider joining one of the FREE Question, Persuade and Refer Suicide Prevention trainings being offered in May.
