What do you mean, the whole child? Supporting Social Determinants of Health (SDoH).Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) are the social, economic, and physical conditions in the places where people live, work and play that can affect their health and well-being. Children and families are currently facing challenges that are forcing them to make difficult life choices as they cope with food insecurity, housing instability, access to medical care and treatment. Wisconsin Afterschool Network will take a look at SDoH through the lens of Whole Child, Whole Family, Whole Community and focus on how youth serving organizations can help provide resources that enhance quality of care and access to local resources. With this new knowledge, organizations will be able to help families access resources and provide programming that supports a thriving, whole child system. Programs will come away with concrete strategies to serve children and will see a return on their investment when kids show up to programming healthier, happier, and ready to grow.
